The reveal of the brand new game by ConcernedApe - the one-man team behind the cult classic farming game Stardew Valley - was an incredibly exciting one.

His many fans expected him simply to be working on balancing the huge multiplayer update he had developed for the game, but in fact, he had been working on a new RPG title - aptly titled Haunted Chocolatier

It was big news, and a reason to celebrate because a new ConcernedApe game doesn't come around every day. As it turns out, that's not all. The developer is actually working on something entirely different too.

Is ConcernedApe Making A Game Alongside Haunted Chocolatier?

Alongside his long-awaited return to solo development in the recently announced Haunted Chocolatier, it has been revealed that ConcernedApe is also working on another game with a new team, with details remaining under wraps.

In conversation with Game Informer, Eric Barone said that he is working on a new collaborative project alongside his solo work. It will be his first since taking on the ConcernedApe moniker.

He wants to have "the best of both worlds" by choosing to work with a team, he says in the conversation. There still aren't any details available about the new game, but we can probably expect the game to come after Haunted Chocolatier, as it doesn't seem to have been in development for very long.

ConcernedApe Isn't "Trying To Make The Next Big Indie Hit"

Supposedly, Barone isn't prioritising matching Stardew Valley in sales or ambition, though that doesn't mean Haunted Chocolatier won't come with these things. He has said that he's "not trying to make the next big indie hit," and even suggested launching the game with a fresh tactic to make sure player expectations weren't as high as they were bound to be.

"I was almost considering - it might be interesting to release the game under an alias," said Barone. "And people don't even know it's me, and then to see if it could actually just be successful on its own merits. But I feel like that's a bit disingenuous; I'm not going to do that."

Though Haunted Chocolatier is likely to share its DNA with Stardew Valley, it's clear that Barone doesn't want the game to be defined by its predecessor. It's fair enough - and whatever shape Haunted Chocolatier takes, we'll be glad to have a new ConcernedApe game back in our hands.
