Star Wars Eclipse Is Quantic Dream's 'Most Ambitious' Project Ever
There are many Star Wars game in development currently, but few have got people as curious as Star Wars Eclipse from Quantic Dream, and in a recent interview the studio founder, David Cage, called it their "most ambitious" project yet.
David Cage Says Star War Eclipse Won't "Be A Skin Of Detroit"
When Star Wars Eclipse was announced in December 2021, many people assumed it would be a typical Quantic Dream narrative-focused game, except with a Star Wars skin. This assumption wouldn't be crazy, as the developer has made a name for themselves over the past twenty years for creating projects that resemble interactive dramas more than conventional video games. However, David Cage has pushed back on this idea.
In a recent interview with IGN, Cage stated, "Star Wars is not going to be a skin of Detroit. The two games will be very different, very different, although we will also of course use what we learned… it's going to be a very different experience".
No specific details of what will be different were published in the interview, but there have been details released over the past year that do paint a picture of how things might change up from their previous titles.
What Do We Know About Star Wars Eclipse So Far?
Most of the information on Star Wars Eclipse has been pretty vague or courtesy of unconfirmed leaks so far, but there are some key story details that are outlined on the Star Wars website. It's set in the High Republic era of Star Wars, taking place many years before the prequels, and will feature uncharted sections of the galaxy in the Outer Rim region.
Like previous Quantic Dream games, it will feature multiple playable protagonists who can make choices to affect the outcome of the story. However, the CEO of Quantic Dreams, Guillaume de Fondaumiere, did state recently that it would play differently than their previous games, despite retaining the "fundamental elements" that the developer is known for.
