DiRT Rally 2.0 set to burn rubber all over again as the second World Series has doubled its prize fun. Codemasters and Motorsport Games has announced that Season 2 will kick off on August 25 and is pitting 12 drivers against each other with the chance to share a $20,000 prize pool.

The first rally took place in January 2020, where Joona Pankkonen and Killian Dall'olmo were crowned champions of the rally and rallycross competitions. The first qualifying rounds will start soon and end in a live final at the Autosport International Show - due to take place in Birmingham on January 16, 2021.

As well as taking home the cash, the winner will get to do a test drive in a QEV electric rallycross car, which is going to be a big part of the new World Rallycross Championship supporting-eRX2 Championship.

In-game qualification is on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam. The World Series will include three qualifying events for rally and rallycross, across a whole host of virtual machinery and fan-favourite World RX locations including Holjes and Hell, as well as stages from the Australian, New Zealand, and Spanish rallies.

DiRT Rally 2.0 game director Ross Gowing said, "The DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series surpassed our expectations. We knew there was an appetite, but we didn't expect the vast level of participation and engagement.

"Now we get to do it all over again with a bigger event and even more prize money. We are also delighted to reward players with the in-game Ford Fiesta R5 and hope this is an added incentive for players of all levels to get involved."

Anyone who wants to qualify will automatically unlock the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII in DiRT Rally 2.0. Petrolheads will know this is a homage to the car that helped Aleksey Lukyanuk win the 2018 European Rally Championship. The Ford Fiesta R5 MKII is a replacement for its predecessor and features "the latest ST-Line body shell", a brand new engine and remodelled chassis, and "a notably aggressive anti-lag system".

The second World Series hopes to follow in the footsteps of the first and the World RX Esports Series - which nabbed over 1.24 million live views. With the world of professional motorsports coming to an emergency stop thanks to COVID-19, events like the DiRT Rally 2.0. World Series have become commonplace. Now the drivers know how and when to enter, it's time to get behind the wheel.
