Resident Evil And Simpsons Crossover Brings The Horror To Springfield

Over the past 31 years (and 703 episodes), we've come to know and love the kooky characters of The Simpsons. Also becoming a character in its own right is the town of Springfield, and its many landmarks. From the Kwik-E-Mart to Moe's Tavern, Springfield Elementary to Krusty Burger, 742 Evergreen Terrace to the Baker Ranch. What? Wait a minute. While the mellow-yellow vibes of The Simpsons might seem a million miles away from the zombies and shotguns of the Resident Evil series, someone has brought them together in a big way.

From its humble origins in the crumbling Spencer Mansion for1996's Resident Evil to the much bigger Racoon City and beyond, Capcom has managed to reinvent its horror franchise almost as much as The Simpsons has. While we're sharpening our blades and stocking our arsenals for the upcoming release of Resident Evil Village, one warped fan has gone back to 2017's Resident Evil 7 and added The Simpsons with a murderous mod we never knew we needed.

What is the Resident Evil and Simpsons crossover?

Posting on YouTube, ToastedShoes showed off a mod from MrMarco1003 and "ruined" RE7. Personally, we think it made things even better. Here, Homer takes on the role of the iconic Jack Baker, Marge is Margueritte, and Lisa is Mia Winters. If that wasn't enough, there are a whole host of familiar faces that pop by the Baker Ranch for some haunting hide-and-seek. The video is the first in a series of titled "Resident Evil 7 but it's The Simpsons".

In the video, ToastedShoes says, "Alrighty, so three years ago, I played Resident Evil 7 in VR. This date is still one of the scariest experiences of my life, but I thought to myself, how could we make Resident Evil 7 more scary". Just like the game opens with Ethan rushing to Louisiana to try and save his wife, the Resident Evil and Simpsons crossover starts with Ethan journeying to this dilapidated part of backwater America in search of beloved - who is apparently an 8-year-old girl.

Can you mod The Simpsons into Resident Evil?

Seeing Homer burst out of the wall as Jack Baker is a truly terrifying experience. It also makes us wish for a future Treehouse of Horror episode that homages Resident Evil. ToastedShoes adds, "I'm just gonna say it right now this mod is more scary than the actual game", which we're inclined to agree with. The first part includes cameos from Jasper and Chief Wiggum, while later videos have everyone from Groundskeeper Willie to Donut Homer (a personal favourite).

Notably, the mod looks like a slightly remastered version of The Simpsons Hit & Run, but with a lot more blood and less GTA-inspired driving. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the Resident Evil and Simpsons crossover is available over on Nexus Mods. Still, you can check out ToastedShoes' other mods on the site. Sticking with the RE theme, we encourage you to try his Resident Evil 3 remake. Here, there are crossovers with Rick and MortyThe SimpsonsSpongeBob SquarePants, and more.

One of the most exciting bits about any game getting a PC release is its modding potential. With gamers ready to explore Castle Dimitrescu and beyond in Village, we can't wait to see someone mod Marge Simpson into becoming the towering temptress that is Lady Dimitrescu.
