Quidditch Will Not Be Playable In Hogwarts Legacy
The developers behind Hogwarts Legacy have finally revealed that Quidditch will not be playable in the final game.
After finally receiving a release date for February 2023, Hogwarts Legacy is getting closer, and we're starting to learn a lot more details about the game. Anyone familiar, or even vaguely familiar, with Harry Potter and the Wizarding World IP will know about Quidditch, but it turns out the world-famous sport will not be playable in the game.
You Will Not Be Able To Play Quidditch In Hogwarts Legacy
While Hogwarts Legacy will let you live out the life of a student at the wizarding school of Hogwarts, Quidditch will not be a part of those fantasies the developers have confirmed. In an FAQ on the game's official website, the developers stated, "Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy." This officially puts to rest any rumours that the sport would be a part of the game, but that doesn't mean you won't have the chance to take flight and race.
The FAQ also tells us that "broom flight traversal and broom race challenges are part of the game. Players can also fly brooms to explore new and familiar locations surrounding Hogwarts Castle." So even though you won't be able to take to the skies and catch the Golden Snitch, you'll still have plenty of opportunities to fly around the game's open world recreation of the wizarding school.
What Else Does The Hogwarts Legacy FAQ Tell Us?
Click to enlargeAside from the section on brooms, flying, and Quidditch, the official Hogwarts Legacy FAQ reveals a lot of key information about the upcoming experience. It discusses the involvement of J.K. Rowling, the disgraced creator of Harry Potter who has become notable for her apparent transphobic comments in recent years. The FAQ states she is "not involved in the creation of the game, but as creator of the Wizarding World and one of the world's greatest storytellers, her extraordinary body of writing is the foundation of all projects in the Wizarding World."
On a more mechanical note, the FAQ also talks about how players can mix and match "dozens of spells" to allow players to "define their combat style." There is confirmation on the types of classes you can attend during schooling hours, with "Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, and Potions" confirmed. These will also give players opportunities to learn new spells, and meet some of the key professors at the school.
