Pokimane Backs Mizkif's Controversial Take On Emerging Female Streamers
Imane "Pokimane" Anys offered a fairly surprising response to some controversial comments made by fellow Twitch streamer Matthew "Mizkif" Rinaudo about female streamers. The content creator kicked off a dispute online after claiming that emerging female streamers have it "way easier" than men.
With 9 million followers to her name, Pokimane is one of Twitch's most popular female streamers. However, it hasn't been an easy ride. Like most women in the community, Pokimane has had to deal with a fair bit of sexist behaviour throughout her career. Yet, she hasn't let it get in the way of what she wants to do and has openly called out her fellow streamers who have been misogynistic towards her.
So, Pokimane isn't one to shy away from the debate surrounding the struggles of female streamers compared to men. However, after Mizkif sparked debate by claiming that it is "way easier" for female streamers to make a break in the industry, Pokimane was, rather surprisingly, in agreement.

Pokimane Responds To Mizkif's Claim About Emerging Female Streamers
On March 5, Twitch streamer Mizkif sparked a debate after sharing some views on male and female content creators. In the rant, Mizkif claimed: "It is way easier for women to get to that 100, 200, or even 300 viewer count point. Women have it so much easier than men, and it's just the truth." However, he claimed that female streamers have a much tougher job of breaking through the "glass ceiling" in comparison to men who have an "infinite ceiling."
His comments sparked a debate among the streaming community. So much so, that even 2021's Twitch king Felix "xQc" Lengyel shared his disapproving response. However, during her stream on March 9, Pokimane actually stated that she agreed with a good deal of Mizkif's comments saying, "I don't think he's wrong."
She explained: "When you have 100 viewers or less, there are so many channels that when you're a girl, you stand out because there's just less girls than guys on this platform."
Pokimane concurred with Mizkif's views that female streamers struggle to break through the "glass ceiling" and pass through the 1k mark due to streaming being a "male-dominated field." Although, she disagreed with his comments about women having it "way easier than men" saying Mizkif "likes saying polarizing things" in order to "farm the incels a little bit."
Pokimane Responds To xQc's Take On Female Streamers
Following on from Mizkif's comments, xQc lent his views to the discussion and he didn't wholeheartedly agree with Mizkif. The Twitch superstar claimed that Mizkif's views about emerging female streamers finding it easier to break into the industry were only "half-true." He argued: It's true women overall have an easier time getting to the 200–300 viewer mark because of certain appeals."
However, it was his claim that women who "cater to parasocial viewers" and subsequently lose viewers for doing so which Pokimane particularly didn't like. In her response to xQc's claims, Pokimane pointed the finger of blame towards the "parasocial viewers" themselves and not the streamer.
Pokimane, xQc, and Mizkif may be some of the most famous faces on Twitch, but it seems even they don't have the power to quell the fiery debate comparing female and male streamers. As male content creators continue to dominate the stats for the most popular channels overall, it's clear there is still a long way to go in levelling the playing field for all content creators.
