PlayStation have been going mad on the front of acquisitions this past week. They officially acquired Housemarque, the developers behind the recent next-gen critical darling Returnal. Plus, they managed to leak their acquisition of BluePoint games, the team behind Shadow of the Colossus and Gravity Rush, via an early tweet from PlayStation Japan.

It doesn't seem like the company are willing to stop there, though. We now have word of a new company coming under the wing of PlayStation Studios - and they're not bad either.

Yet another in the line of PlayStation's acquisitions, the company have just announced that they've acquired the gaming studio Nixxes.

You might recognise the company as they are behind the recent Tomb Raider reboots and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, along with having a hand in Marvel's Avengers

The Dutch company has just come under the wing of PlayStation Studios, as announced by Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, on Twitter. "It's a real pleasure to welcome a team with such deep technical expertise and vast experience to the PlayStation family", he says.

It is unknown at this time if the acquisition will affect the exclusive status of Nixxes' games, but it certainly seems likely right now in the wake of Xbox's acquisition of gaming giants Bethesda.

The fresh acquisitions are a great move on PlayStation's part in the face of their friendly rivals Xbox ramping up their exclusives, and Nixxes are a great studio to have on their side. They have great experience in porting, so they'll be of great assistance to other studios looking to bring their titles to the PlayStation 5.

Now that Sony have taken Nixxes under their wing, it bears the question - who's next to be adopted by PlayStation? Only time will tell, but as of right now, They're in a very good position indeed.
