Players Believe They've Found A Grand Theft Auto 6 '2021 Teaser' In GTA Online
Start those engines because some petrol-headed gamers think they've found a teaser for Grand Theft Auto 6 hiding in GTA Online. Better yet, it hints at the imminent arrival of the next chapter, meaning we could be getting behind the wheel of GTA 6 in 2021.
It's hard to believe Grand Theft Auto 5 zoomed into our lives all the way back in 2013 and went on to become the second best-selling game of all time. While Minecraft is ahead with an astonishing 200,000 million sales, GTA 5 is in a respectable second place with 135,000,000. Topping Minecraft though, GTA V is the most profitable entertainment product of all time with a revenue of around $6 billion.
With such massive shoes to fill, it's no surprise Rockstar Games has been taking its time trying to perfect Grand Theft Auto 6. Now, fans think a numbered door in Los Santos Airport has confirmed the next game for 2021. Doing some digging, this first did the rounds back in 2016 but seems to have gained traction again recently. With everyone stuck in their homes due to COVID-19, I guess there's been more time to play GTA Online.
If you head through the security gate on the right-hand side of the airport and follow the road, you'll come across a number of doors with either 2016 (the release of GTA V) or 2021 stamped on them. Is it just a coincidence that six of these doors have 2021 on them? Do six doors equal GTA 6? Previously, Grand Theft Auto IV left a blatant clue to what was coming next when signs appeared in Liberty City Airport and advertised flights to Los Santos.
Even if we are going to put on our tin foil hats and accept this one as gospel, 2021 is a pretty broad range for when GTA 6 could release. Still, with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X both hitting shelves before the end of this year, 2021 is the perfect time for Rockstar to take over the market again.
Elsewhere, there are whispers Grand Theft Auto 6 could even launch within GTA Online. The latest Take-Two earnings called showcased an impressive GTA Online roadmap and confirmation it will be secured for the next generation of consoles. There are also promises of its biggest update yet - which many have taken to believe could be tied into GTA 6.
Ultimately, no one knows what's going on with Grand Theft Auto 6 and Rockstar hasn't even mentioned the title. There's some big hype with whispers we could be getting a full Grand Theft Auto: Vice City sequel with a return to the '80s, but for now, everyone is driving around in circles.
