Xbox is still having a field day with Game Pass. Not only is it one of the greatest draws of the Xbox Series consoles (practically boosting the Series S to being a Game Pass box), but it's still consistently adding big titles, like the entire Hitman trilogy of games and the upcoming Rainbow Six Extraction arriving on January 20.

The subscription service is without a doubt one of the best things Xbox has going right now - and it seems that Phil Spencer knows it. But, he's not protective of the model, and in fact, he's urging PlayStation to get in on the action.

Phil Spencer Says A PlayStation Game Pass 'Makes Sense'

In conversation with IGN, boss of Xbox Phil Spencer has said that it'd be a good idea for PlayStation to jump on the hype for services much like Game Pass.

"I don't mean to sound like we've got it all figured out," he says, "But I think the right answer is allowing your customers to play the games they wanna play, where the wanna play them, and giving them choice about how they build their library, and being transparent with them about what our plans are n terms of our PC initiatives and our cross-gen initiatives and other things.

"So when I hear others doing things like Game Pass or coming to PC, it makes sense to me because I think that's the right answer."

Though Xbox doesn't quite have the monopoly on games coming to PC, it's still nice to see that Spencer isn't worried about PlayStation taking over them with a competitor - in fact, it seems as though he welcomes the competition so it'll spur the service to become even better.

Could There Be A Game Pass Competitor?

It seems as though Phil Spencer is excited about the prospect of a company (presumably PlayStation with its upcoming PS Now upgrade) stepping up to the plate to challenge Game Pass.

"I like it because it feeds our energy on what are the next things that we should be working on as we continue to build out the things that we've done in the past", Spencer continues. "Because I think the right answer is to ship great games, ship them on PC, ship them on console, ship them on cloud, make them available day one in the subscription. And I expect that's what our competitor will do."

It's clear that money isn't the game for Game Pass, and it's nice to see Spencer make way for competitors to benefit the consumer. We'll just have to wait and see what PlayStation has up its sleeves for the PS Now upgrade - but it's going to have to be big.
