Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg has disappointed fans and announced he's taking another break from YouTube. The superstar content creator is known for being the most-subbed streamer on YouTube, but also for taking a break from the streaming service from time to time. PewDiePie last took a break in January 2020, and by the sounds of it, he's ready for another.

Considering PewDiePie has been a staple of our screens for the past decade, we think he's probably earned a break. Don't worry though, this isn't an extended break and he won't be gone for long. While PewDiePie has left YouTube before to focus on his mental health, his latest departure is simply so he can play a game he's been waiting for.

Why is PewDiePie taking a break from YouTube?

In a recent video, Kjellberg confirmed he's taking a break from YouTube because he's been waiting months for the release of Minecraft's "Caves & Cliffs" update that came out on June 8. PewDiePie isn't alone in his time off, with editor Sive also putting their feet up. PewDiePie has let viewers know in advance, with the streamer mentioning his summer hiatus in May 28's "My Response to..." and June 7's "I am being slandered online..."

Discussing his short break, PewDiePie simply said, "I'm leaving when the new Minecraft update comes out that I've been waiting for, for months". By the sounds of it, he'll be making the most of his summer holiday by jumping into a whole new Minecraft

At the time of writing, we guess Pewdz is enjoying all the blocky fun of Minecraft. "Caves & Cliffs" is billed as the "most ambitious update to date", which puts into perspective just how massive that could be when you consider Minecraft has an active player base of 140 million monthly users.

When will PewDiePie be back from his YouTube break?

PewDiePie has confirmed the summer vacation will run from June 7 to June 13, however, it's unclear if he plans on extending it for longer. Either way, there probably won't be any new uploads to his channel between these dates. Videos have been going live, but we guess they were pre-recorded. Although PewDiePie didn't necessarily rule out live streaming Minecraft during his week off, he's likely to remain MIA until June 13.

Interestingly, Kjellberg asked his fans not to visit other content creators to see what "Caves & Cliffs" has in store - asking them to wait for his return to see what's going on. He could've been joking, but with the star being considering one for the ultimate Minecraft pros, we're sure plenty of viewers will wait for his take on the update.

More than just taking some time away from steaming, PewDiePie's break could actually cost him money. When he stepped away from YouTube last year between January 15 to February 21, it's estimated he missed out on somewhere between $500,000 and $1 million. That being said, it was a much longer break than his current one. Also, you can't expect the likes of PewDiePie to work 365 days a year.
