Luigi doesn't have much luck, does he? If it's not being cut from Super Mario 64, he's left chasing ghosts around haunted mansions. Seriously, where is Super Luigi Odyssey

Now, Mario's taller (younger) brother is once again being snubbed by Nintendo. This time, the House that Mario built celebrated its successes in 2022 and looked ahead to this year - without a care for Luigi.

Why Did Nintendo Forget Luigi?

Ushering in the new year, Nintendo tweeted "Happy New Year from Nintendo and the Mushroom Kingdom! Wahoo!" alongside a picture of Mario, Yoshi, Toad, and Peach. Although it was presumably just a mistake to leave Luigi by the wayside, it didn't go unnoticed by fans.

One grumbled, "Huh I think there's another certain green character that could be in place of Yoshi, hmm who could that be certainly couldn't be the second most main character in the entire Mario franchise."

Another added, "Who's more important? - a brother of Mario, whose helping Mario in every conflict against bowser, a partner in crime with good sense of humor, a lone haunted house explorer, a gigachad ghost buster Or - a mushroom and a sacrificial dinosaur."

A third said, "Whenever Luigi isn't included in promotional stuff, I'm going to assume that he's offscreen kissing men. So if Nintendo wants to keep this up, they're going to have a lot of explaining to do."

Will Luigi Be In The Next Mario Game?

This isn't the first time Nintendo has done the dirty on Luigi. Last year, a similar tweet went viral when the gaming giant was accused of using renders from 2007. Some joked that they couldn't find a render old enough, so missed him altogether for 2023.

Sadly, Nintendo will never win. It's just like when Waluigi was MIA from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so it could always be worse for Luigi.

Thankfully, there are rumours that Luigi could have a much bigger part to play in the next mainline Mario game. Although you should take all of this with a pinch of salt, one insider claimed Luigi will be a playable character in the mythical Super Mario Odyssey 2.

If not, there's always the rumour that we're getting another 2D Mario game that will let you play as the likes of Mario and Peach. In the meantime, angry gamers are creating their own 2023 celebrations that put Luigi where he belongs.
