It's been forever. Or at least it feels like it.

At this stage, the rumours of a Switch Pro model have been swirling around the Nintendo fan consciousness for what feels like years. In fact, it's just the last few months that has seen the conversation blown out of proportion as to when we'd get to see an upgraded model of the Nintendo Switch console, as many fans were growing concerned about the processing power the Switch would require for the upcoming sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Well, it's here.

Finally.

Nintendo Unveil New Switch Model, The OLED Model

After months of theories, rumours and speculation, we finally have our first peek at the console that has among fans has become the "Switch Pro".

Dubbed the Nintendo Switch OLED Model, the console boasts a 7-inch OLED screen, a wide adjustable stand, wired internet connection and a gorgeous new silver design.

The console was officially revealed in a video on Nintendo's official channel, that you can see here:

What's New In The Nintendo Switch OLED Model?

According to the official Nintendo website, here's every new detail of the OLED model:

It has a 7-inch OLED screen, giving the player some vivid colours and excellent contrast when in handheld mode.

The stand for the console is adapted to dip lower and reach wider, to make for better viewing options when in tabletop mode.

It has a built-in wired LAN port allowing you to connect to the internet with a wired connection.

The console has a solid 64GB of internal storage, giving you more room to pack it with games.

It has enhanced audio too, with better built-in speakers.

When Does The Nintendo Switch OLED Model Release?

The upgraded console is set to release on October 8 2021, coming in at $349.99 in the USA and with no current reveal of a UK price - but we imagine it to be in the same area.

The console doesn't look to be the "Switch Pro" that many had wanted, but it's certainly an upgrade from the original model. Who knows, maybe another model is around the corner - but until then, we're very happy with the crisp visuals to come.
