Time is closing in on the reveal of a new version of the Nintendo Switch. Fans have been expecting a reveal before Nintendo arrive on the scene at E3, and as time sharply narrows in on that time frame, fans are becoming erratic.

A reveal for a vastly souped-up Switch console that can handle what many players expect to be a generation-defining title in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 has been the top of players’ wishlists for some time. We can’t discern yet when we’ll see an official reveal - but we might finally have its name. A new leak from GameStop might have offered us the very first details of the brand new Switch console.

GameStop Cites “New Nintendo Switch” In Trade-In Scheme Ad

In a new ad for a trade-in scheme at GameStop to let players upgrade their consoles at a better price, it looks like the game stockist could have let slip the name of the upcoming Nintendo Switch console that many have dubbed the “Nintendo Switch Pro”. The trade-in scheme is set to end on June 19, notably after the Nintendo conference.

An image has been revealed that details the offers that customers can claim, but the hint to the new Switch lies in the fine print.

“Offer valid on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Xbox Series S & PS5 systems traded toward the purchase of New Nintendo Switch/ Nintendo Switch Lite or Xbox Series X|S”.

The ad cites the name of the new console as the New Nintendo Switch, and the ending of the promotion a few days after the Nintendo E3 conference implies that we could learn more about the console either during or just after the company’s appearance at E3.

The title New Nintendo Switch harks back to the 3DS rebuild of a similar name, that offered the console amped up processing power, allowing it to run titles like Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Whether we see the reveal of the new console in the next week or if this is a mere mistake, we’ll have to wait and see. To be fair to Nintendo, it’s a literal title that makes sense - but as long as it’ll run Breath of the Wild 2, we’ll be happy.
