Well, it's official, Microsoft has just bought Activision Blizzard, the troubled blanket company behind Call of DutyWorld of WarcraftOverwatch and more.

The move comes as it was announced that up to 40 members of staff have been fired from the company in the wake of the grim 'frat-boy culture' lawsuit, and as CEO Bobby Kotick refuses to budge from his position.

This deal, should it come to fruition, will be one of the biggest gaming acquisitions in many years. It could also plunge the futures of some of video games' most well-known titles into uncertainty.

What Is The Activision Deal?

Plus, sources are reporting and confirming that Microsoft has secured the company for a whopping $69.7 Billion dollars.

The announcement has officially been made by Microsoft on its website, sealing the deal as one of the biggest acquisitions in recent years.

"Today, Microsoft Corp. announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard Inc., a leader in game development and interactive entertainment content publisher," reads the statement.

This also casts the future of disgraced CEO Bobby Kotick into doubt, as it has been revealed that the company will report to Phil Spencer when the contract has been finalised in 2023.

Kotick will remain as CEO until then, but once the ink dries, there's little we know about his role at the company.

This deal is perhaps one of the biggest in the medium's history, and is a huge swing for Xbox, especially after acquiring Bethesda. For those monitoring the console wars, a winner may have just been decided.
