The concept of a Metal Gear Solid movie is too good. Bringing Hideo Kojima's brainchild to life on the big screen, with Oscar Isaac of all people leading the charge as Snake? Sign us up.

The movie has been in something of a limbo for a while now, with very little info to go off when it comes to the MGS arrival in the mainstream. With no updates, fans are growing worried. Although we've finally got an update from the star himself, it seems as though he knows about as much as we do.

What Has Oscar Isaac Said About A Metal Gear Solid Movie?

In conversation with ComicBook.com, chatting about his recent graphic novel Head Wounds: Sparrow, Oscar Isaac updated us on the progress of the Metal Gear Solid movie. From his latest comment, it doesn't like there hasn't been much done in terms of meaningful progress toward the film being made.

"We want it to happen," says Isaac. "Be excited. What's the script? What's the story? What's the take? [...] But hopeful that comes to fruition because there's so much potential for that. It's an incredible game. It's my favourite."

Isaac has been attached to the project since 2020, and given that it has been two years since the Metal Gear Solis movie started work, it's nerve-wracking to see that the star himself doesn't know an awful lot more than we do - at least in terms of what he's willing to impart on the press.

What's Next For Metal Gear Solid?

Though Konami's relationship with Hideo Kojima has all but dissolved and vanished, there's probably a chance that the company will make an attempt to push Metal Gear Solid forward as a series regardless. In spite of its disconnect from its creators, leaks and rumours have suggested that a new game is in development.

Konami has let many of its legacy IPs die, however, some expect a new Metal Gear to arrive in 2025 at the absolute earliest. It may not be close, but it could be on the way regardless. A live-action film also has a lot of potential - we just have to see it actually get written first. Come on team, chop chop.
