Kingdom Hearts Is Finally Coming To PC
We finally have the keys to the kingdom (hearts) as Square Enix's beloved Kingdom Hearts franchise is finally coming to PC. While we're all familiar with the Final Fantasy, Disney, and Pixar crossover thanks to 18 years, 13 titles, and over 32 million sales, it's baffling to think we've never been able to play on PC. The first Kingdom Hearts debuted in 2002 on the PlayStation, and has since branched out to everything from the Game Boy Advance to the Nintendo Switch. Still, we've been annoyingly locked out of playing on PC.
The Epic Games Store Spring showcase was a smorgasbord of big announcements that included the reveal of Rogue Company's latest addition, the Godfall Primal Update, Magic: Legends Open Beta coming next month, and a huge Epic Games Store sale to snap up some deals. Still, the long-awaited announcement of Kingdom Hearts on PC easily stole the showcase.
What's included in Kingdom Hearts on PC?
In an announcement, Epic Games confirmed Kingdom Hearts is coming to PC on March 30 as part of a game bundle. There will be 11 games across four releases, meaning Epic is staggering the release of the fan-favourite franchise. The first release is Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + ReMIX, which takes us back to the start with Kingdom Hearts Final Mix (a remaster of the OG Kingdom Hearts), 2004's Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories that was first released on the Game Boy Advance, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. The final entry is technically the fifth released, however, it is the next chronologically.
There's also Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix as a remaster of the second game, the PSP Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded - the 2011 Nintendo DS remake of Kingdom Hearts Coded. The second bundle coming on March 30 is Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. It features a remodelled version of 2012's Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD from the 3DS, Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage as a short prelude to Kingdom Hearts 3. Finally, there's Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover - a movie set before Birth by Sleep.
If you're still with us, the third bundle is Kingdom Hearts 3 + Re Mind to combine 2019's game and its DLC, as well as a fourth bundle with Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, - the 2020 rhythm-action tour.
Our hearts are set to be stolen all over again by Epic, so you're probably dying to know how much each bundle will set you back. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + ReMIX costs £39.99, while Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts 3 + Re Mind, and Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory will all cost £49.99 each.
While the latest announcement is huge news for PC fans, you might be interested to know PlayStation owners can make the most of a sale on the PlayStation Store. All of the above games apart from Melody of Memory and the Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC are currently on sale for just £22.49 on the PS Store. There's no news on how long Kingdom Hearts could be an Epic exclusive, but we're sure to find out more when we're closer to the release of the bundles.
