Have you lost your cluckin' minds? KFC (yes, the chicken restaurant) has just unveiled its own games console. While the fast food giant's bizarre claims it was making its own console caused a few raised eyebrows and critics to think it's a hoax, KFC has refused to "chicken" out of this one and is sure to ruffle a few feathers with a next-gen console.

Most of us know KFC for the iconic imagery of Colonel Sanders, its secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices, and that finger-lickin' chicken. However, in a year we've learned to expect the unexpected, KFC is swapping buckets for buttons and making the most of its KFC Gaming brand. One a "wing" and a prayer, this is one idea that is frankly so out-there, it just might work. So, just what is the KFC console?

What is the KFC console?

Just after the reveal of the PS5 in June, KFC showed off a trailer for its own console. Many took it to be a joke that was a well-timed PR stunt, but now, KFC has reportedly teamed up with Cooler Master to launch the KFConsole, which is capable of 4K and 240FPS. Better yet, it has an in-built chicken warmer for when you get peckish during those rounds of Call of Duty: Warzone

KFC PR boss Mark Cheevers explained, "Moving forward from our initial teaser campaign earlier this year, we're so pleased to finally give the fans exactly what they wanted; making the KFConsole a reality".

Looking like the stuff delicious dreams are made of, Cheevers continued, "We all know the console war is vicious, but we're very confident in the KFConsole as our flagship entry. This machine is capable of running games at top-level specs, all on top of keeping your meal warm for you to enjoy during your gaming experience... what's not to like? If Sony or Microsoft want any tips on how to engineer a chicken chamber for their efforts next time, they'd be welcome to get in touch".

KFC Console: What are its specs?

Claiming this is the end of the console wars, the KFConsole is shaped like the iconic KFC Bargain Bucket. Lifting the lid, it has plenty going on under the good. Alongside the aforementioned 4K and 240FPS, there's an Intel Nuc 9 CPU, Seagate BarraCuda 1TB SSD, and a mention of "ray tracing" that teases an Nvidia GPU. Things get weirder, as Cooler Master has hyped the inclusion of "a first of its kind hot swappable GPU slot". As well as keeping your dinner warm, the KFConsole should be able to boot up games within seconds.

Telling you to "power your hunger", it really looks like this is the real deal. You can check out the full landing page here. We'll be honest, there's something decidedly April Fools about the whole thing, while no release date or price also has us wondering is this all part of a massive PR stunt. Either way, we're totally here for it. Whatever you think about the KFC console, it's clear these mother pluckers mean business.
