We're rounding off 2021 in style, as all those swirling rumours about Hideo Kojima could finally be coming true. With the maestro of the macabre being about as big as they come in the gaming sphere, we're dying to know what comes next.

Back in the day, Kojima was known for his work at Konami - helping craft major franchises like Metal Gear. He made a very public split from his former employer in 2015 and set up shop with Kojima Productions. So far though, we've only had the divisive Death Stranding

What Is Hideo Kojima Working On?

Giving us an end of year treat, Kojima delivered a peek at 2022 and beyond (via Famitsu) and confirmed there are two projects in active development. Here, Kojima promised he's currently working on something "big," while describing a second as "new and challenging."

This opened the doors wide open to what's going on over at Kojima Productions. If there are multiple titles on the go, it gives high hopes that the developer could juggle multiple games at once - akin to Insomniac with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and the mysterious Wolverine game.

As typical with anything related to Kojima, it's speculation territory now. The mention of big has given hopes to two schools of thought. Namely, it sounds like another AAA title.

Although many of us would love see him bring back Silent Hill (yes, we said that cursed name), we're guessing it's a full-blown Death Stranding 2

Only recently, Kojima teased he was back at work on something cryptic. Looking closer, fans seemed to suggest it was another game with Norman Reedus - which would fuel the fire of those Death Stranding 2 rumours. He also confirmed a new project was on the way, with Kojima Productions going on the recruitment drive.

It's been a struggle to keep up with what Kojima is/isn't working on. Every week, the words "silent hill" start doing the rounds, while others have tipped Kojima for an Xbox exclusive - meaning it almost definitely wouldn't be Death Stranding 2

Finally, let's remember Kojima Productions just opened a new arm for movies, TV, and music (?), suggesting that one of the two ideas he's teased could leave gaming behind and make the first steps into a new medium. Either way, Hideo Kojima's notoriously artistic flare has us pumped.
