The launch of GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition was almost as messy as its title. Almost. An absolute catastrophe of a launch came for the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto classic remakes, offering players a broken, buggy, ugly mess that didn't nearly replicate any of the magic of the original titles.

Its launch was chaos, and all that Rockstar seems to have learned from the experience is that players don't want more remakes - which couldn't be further from the truth. Players want remakes, but they don't want them to be practically in bits. Although Rockstar has finally updated the game, fans are furious about it.

What's New In The GTA Trilogy Update?

A new update has finally landed for GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition after what feels like forever for waiting fans. It's hard to sugar coat it, but it's pretty pathetic.

The update packs only a few hundred megabytes in size, and has landed with new details about its contents revealed on its official site. The patch notes post reads "Stability improvements across all three titles on all platforms." That's it. A single line is all we're getting in terms of a GTA Trilogy update.

Fans are downloading the patch to discover that none of their hopes for the game's fixes are being realised. Many players are struggling to find exactly where these "stability improvements" actually are. And, somehow, it gets worse.

PC Players Need To Reinstall GTA: The Trilogy

If PC players want to go ahead and download the nigh-on useless patch, which, they're going to have to uninstall the entire game and reinstall it to make sure that they're up to date. One disgruntled gamer says it "still sucks" and tagged the likes of Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick while demanding a refund.

This is the case with every update that the GTA Trilogy game has had since launch, but when the update is as slim as this, it's an immensely frustrating roadblock. Also, considering this is the first update in eight months, we question what's going on. We know Rockstar is all in on GTA 6, but this is ridiculous.

Rockstar has really fumbled the bag with this collection, and has learned all of the wrong lessons from it. Just kill it already, it's not like anyone's really going to miss the maligned GTA Trilogy. Well, you've already put Red Dead Online out to pasture.
