GTA 6 Map Reportedly Leaked And It's Huge

Rockstar Games isn't quite revving its engines with Grand Theft Auto 6, and although we know virtually nothing about the next chapter of the open-world juggernaut, a few tempting details have started racing into our lives.

With rumours of a return to Vice City or something completely new, GTA speculation is at fever-pitch as everyone prepares for a new generation of video games. It's baffling to think Rockstar hasn't even officially announced GTA 6 yet, but with Grand Theft Auto V coming out in 2013, players are looking ahead at the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as well as next-gen consoles making the most of their advanced hardware with a potential GTA title.

While a "leaked2 map should be taken with a pinch of salt, it could be our first hints at what to expect from GTA 6.

Is the Grand Theft Auto leak real?

Over on ResetEra and Reddit an "island" map has appeared and set tongues wagging. It's a huge map that's part of a coastal setting. This lines up with reports we could be going back to Vice City and spending some time catching rays on the beach.

ResetEra leaks need to be taken with a pinch of salt, however, it's important to note the OG poster's map matches others that were previously leaked. Added to this, this looks like an expanded version of that - used as a jumping-off point.

Are we getting a Vice City sequel?

Elsewhere, the most obvious signs point to a return to the fan-favourite Vice City. A few months ago, Take-Two Interactive registered domain names for "gtavicecityonline" and "gtavi.com". The neon splashes of the Miami-inspired Vice City lured us to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2002 and was last visited in 2006's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Even though nothing about this map screams Vice City, that hasn't stopped the wild speculation continuing for what seems like an eternity. In a now-deleted tweet, "Vector Hold" claimed Rockstar was recruiting synth artists to help craft the soundtrack for a Vice City-centric GTA 6. For the time being, Grand Theft Auto VIce City (catchy idea isn't it?), is just the pipe dream of hopeful players.

Importantly, there's no escaping the mind-blowing legacy of GTA V. With Grand Theft Auto Online online still going strong and the game having grossed over $6 billion in revenue, it's by far the highest-grossing entertainment product of all time. Can GTA 6 top this or is its predecessor destined to always sit atop the throne?

Given that Rockstar is working on a remastered version of GTA V for next-gen, we're not expecting a new game to land any time soon. The mean streets of the Grand Theft Auto series have kept gamers bashing buttons since 1997, and while Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be the biggest entry yet, we should probably park all the rumours in the maybe pile for now.
