Forza's Playground Games has announced that the next game will have a great pop culture crossover. While the likes of Rocket League have introduced the Batmobile and Ghostbusters' Ecto-1, Forza Horizon 5 is getting in on the action.

Great Scott, Forza Horizon 5 will feature the DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future. Even if you won't be able to whip through time when you reach 88mph, Playground is leaning heavily into its crossover potential.

How was the Back to the Future crossover announced?

The announcement came via a Twitter post on the official Forza Horizon account. The DeLorean was confirmed to be coming to the title during the first week of the Festival Playlist. For those who don't know, the Festival Playlist is an in-game event that started with the fourth game in the series - letting players complete challenges to unlock new events, customisation items, and vehicles.

The tweet also showed just over a minute of DeLorean gameplay in a few different locales. Sadly, there are no time-travelling shenanigans, so it’s unknown if the car will have a gimmick tied into the Back to the Future series. Still, it certainly looks beautifully realised and faithful to the original model that was produced in the ‘80s.

What other cars are available?

This isn’t the first time Forza has featured unusual cars, with Forza Horizon 3 containing the Regalia from Final Fantasy XV and the upcoming game also featuring the Warthog from Halo - which was also recreated in real life.

The full car list was recently revealed and featured some cars making their debut, such as the 2020 Ford Super Duty F-450 and the 1991 Jaguar Sport XJR-15. Fan favourites will also be returning like the Ferrari F40 and the 1956 Jaguar D-Type.

When will Forza Horizon 5 be available?

Forza Horizon 5 will launch soon on November 5 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s also included day one with Xbox Game Pass - so there are a few different ways players can get their Forza fix and explore the new location of Mexico.

This is also the first title in the franchise to feature raytracing technology, which is sure to make the already gorgeous cars and photorealistic graphics pop even more. Either way, we can't wait to practice our best Doc Brown impression and take the DeLorean for a spin!
