Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Includes Heartbreaking Movie Easter Egg
Although Disney's latest trilogy of Star Wars movies might've proved more divisive than George Lucas' prequels, at least fans can agree that the galaxy far, far away is going great guns in other aspects. Alongside our love of The Mandalorian setting up the franchise's live-action future on the small screen, there's a reinvigorated love for Leia and co. in the world of video games. Amidst rumours of sequels, remakes, and reboots, news that Lucasfilm Games has been resurrected - like Emperor Palpatine on Exegol - has us all excited.
Even if some Star Wars games have been cheap cash-ins on the sci-fi favourite, we've seen original stories like Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order introduce shining stars Iden Versio and Cal Kestis. In particular, Fallen Order is praised as being one of the best Star Wars games of all time. As we wait for news of a possible sequel, someone has gone back to the 2019 game and unearthed a tragic and well-hidden Easter egg.

Lucas' prequel trilogies were panned for their dodgy CGI and poor character development *cough* Jar Jar Binks *cough*, but let's remember the good. As well as Samuel L. Jackson's lauded performance as Mace Windu, we also had Ewan McGregor's young Obi-Wan, Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn, and standout moments including the Duel of the Fates, Obi-Wan's lightsaber battle with Anakin on Mustafar, and the iconic Order 66. See, it wasn't all just Hayden Christensen chewing the scenery.
In Star Wars canon, Order 66 is one of THE defining moments and classed as the chess move that saw the Sith turn the tide on the Jedi to set the original trilogy in motion. The stomach-churning moment saw the villainous Sheev Palpatine (complete with his new look) enact Order 66 and the Empire turn on the Jedi to all-but extinguish them from the galaxy. A handful of Jedi like Yoda and Obi-Wan escaped the carnage, with Fall Order's Cal Kestis also being one of the lucky few.
Posting on Reddit, u/LordEmostache shared (but didn't discover) a clever nod to Order 66. During the first mission, you can press the button on the train - which seems to do nothing. Hmmm, suspicious. If you do it 66 times, it activates the hidden Fallen Order Easter egg with Palpatine's legendary line of, "Execute Order 66". It's enough to give us a PTSD flashback to Anakin slaughtering the Younglings in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
Fallen Order Easter egg: Are there more?
In response to the Easter egg, fans were mainly just amazed someone found it in the first place. You have to incredibly bored or astute to press a random button 66 times. One player wrote, "It’s f*****g ridiculous how intricate and complex those easter eggs are, but somehow they’re still being found", while others pointed out this is nothing compared to the lengths the Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty communities go to in terms of unearthing Easter eggs. We should also point out the Easter egg was discovered just after the game first launched, but has suddenly started doing the rounds again.
Of course, this isn't the only Fallen Order Easter egg that's hiding out in the Dagobah System. As well as a nod to Respawn's Titanfall days with an exclusive skin for BD-1, there's a clever line where stormtroopers discuss the "high ground", and there's the fact the planet Ilum is the future Starkiller Base. Before we heard about the Order 66 train, the most impressive Easter egg was a super-secret shrine to Yoda that was dubbed as the hardest to uncover. Whoever discovered the Order 66 Easter egg, consider us suitably impressed.
