What's up, Tarnished got your tongue? While we always knew the Soulslike Elden Ring was going to live up to bloody reputation predecessors like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, the upcoming release could be one of the most brutal yet.

From what we've seen of Elden Ring so far, it was obvious FromSoftware wasn't skimping on the blood. Godrick the Golden is clearly going to have his many arms sliced off, but according to a new rating, Elden Ring will task you with collecting the severed fingers and tongues of your victims.

An ESRB rating makes for some interesting reading about what's on the way. The general rating for Elden Ring is M for mature, which means over the age of 17 thanks to "blood and gore, language, suggestive themes, and violence." Even though Elden Ring won't include police chases, at least there's some high-adrenaline action.

Apparently, the word sh*t appears in the dialogue, while there's also a mention of "cries of pain, splatters of blood, and impact sounds." The strangest takeaway here is a mention of "collectible items that include severed fingers and tongues." It sounds like Godrick will be losing more than just his flailing arms when the Tarnished take him to task.

It's unclear what we'll be collecting fingers and tongues for, but there's a chance they'll be used to brew up powerful spells or all-important revives. Remember that joyful anthropomorphic Pot Boy (presumably) has more than enough capacity inside to cook all kinds of brews and stews.

What Else Do We Know About Elden Ring?

We already know that Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has been brought on board to help write the story. Given that Martin is known for crafting the blood-soaked Seven Kingdoms, it's no surprise you'll be making a necklace out of your victims' body parts.

Martin himself has already praised Elden Ring and called it "incredible". The acclaimed author told fans on his Not a Blog site that the "offer was too exciting to refuse." Martin went on to explain how Director Hidetaka Miyazaki and his colleagues were doing groundbreaking stuff with art, and after doing his bit, he handed off to the team in Japan.

Elden Ring is due out in February, and has rightly been dubbed one of 2022's most anticipated games. It's going head-to-head with Horizon Forbidden West, and we're calling it now, Elden Ring will come out on top. You only have to look at the runaway success of the Elden Ring Collector's Edition to see this in action.

Will Elden Ring be tame when compared to Bloodborne, or are Miyazaki and Martin trying to deliver a game that's even more violent than Oberyn Martell's death in Game of Thrones? We're hoping it's the latter.
