Nerfing Elden Ring has been hotly contested for some time.

FromSoftware's remorseless difficulty is a big part of what makes their games so intriguing, and though the discourse around video game difficulty rages on, the Elden Ring team seem adamant not to bow to it.

Unless of course, it's a balance change that's made completely by accident; which is what has happened with the latest update.

Elden Ring Patch Introduces A Nerf By Accident

A swathe of changes to Elden Ring have arrived as part of a brand-new patch, but one of them doesn't seem particularly intentional. Upon revealing the 1.04 patch on Twitter, the official Elden Ring account was quick to point out that one change made to the game was a total accident.

"Please note: This patch mistakenly included an update to the duration of the Cerulean Hidden Tear, shortening it," the tweet read. "This unintentional change will be reverted with a minor patch in the near future."

What Else Is Coming In Elden Ring's New Patch?

Though this irritating nerf might be the focal point of the new patch, a lot of different balancing changes have been introduced too, with increased damage of some two-handed weapons, increased FP and Stamina growth rate for lower-level players, and decreased effectiveness of some talismans being introduced to the game in an attempt to make the game closer to FromSoftware's vision.

Every change made to the game can be found on the Bandai Namco site, and details exactly how Elden Ring has changed in the new update - for better or worse.

The game has been realigned, and it's going to please some players and irritate others - but such is the nature of a FromSoftware game. There's always going to be someone around to moan about it, but frankly, we wouldn't have it any other way. Squabble away, Tarnished.
