Our favourite zombie parkour game is back. Ever since the original Dying Light shuffled into our lives in 2015, there was no question that there'd be a sequel.

During a 'Dying 2 Know' event, they released the new trailer, as well as gave some information regarding what exactly we can expect - especially as the game is set 15 years after the original. They've also announced the release date as December 7th, 2021.

It sounds like this game is going to be a step-up from the first. Speaking to the hosts during a live Twitch event, Dying Light writer Piotr Szymanek said: "The player will have the opportunity to decide how [Aiden's] character evolves." Adding that it will be based on choices that we make during gameplay. He explained: "We really put big effort into making this character complex and multidimensional."

The map in Dying Light 2 is split into two huge regions and several different zones. The open-world map is multi-layered, with the rooftops playing a key part in the gameplay itself. They've also doubled the amount of parkour moves, with over 3000 different parkour animations.

The trailer showed some incredible (and gruesome) gameplay. They also described that 'each move can mean triumph or defeat' and 'everything you do in the city can change the narrative'. You can decide your own fate, but the trailer warns to remember to remain human.

In a recent AMA with the Techland team, Associate Producer Julia Szynkaruk told players what they can expect. "The story of Dying Light 2 takes place several years after the story of Dying Light 1", said Szynkaruk. "Kyle Crane was such an important person in all the events that happened in Dying Light 1, so he must have left at least an impact on what will happen in Dying Light 2". Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektala refused to confirm whether the next chapter is a direct follow-up to the first game's DLC (The Following), but explained, "The events in Dying Light 2 and the events that lead up to Dying Light 2 are very strongly connected with what happened in the first game".

The official game description reads: "It’s been 15 years since humanity lost to the virus,

"The last great human settlement exists within an unforgiving, infected world, plunged into a modern dark age. During the day, bandits, factions and starving survivors roam the streets scavenging for scraps - or someone to take them from, by violence if necessary. At night the infected roam free, evacuating their dark hideouts to prey on the living,

"You are Aiden Caldwell, an infected survivor. Your exceptional agility and brutal combat skills make you a powerful ally and a valuable commodity in this dangerous world. You can achieve things no one else can. Enter places no one else dares. With your unique abilities you have the power to be an agent of change within this decaying metropolis."

The game will be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and Series S.
