Faceless streamer "Dream" has come under fire following his comments on doxxing. It comes after he himself was doxxed before he then went on to share some controversial comments about the topic which sparked fury from fans.

Despite never revealing his true identity, Dream has built an incredible career, enjoying enormous success with his Minecraft content and winning Content Creator of the Year at the Game Awards. However, as with anyone in the public eye, he has been the target of toxic behaviour in the streaming community, which he has openly called out in the past. One particular problem is doxxing - searching for and publishing private or identifying information about a particular individual on the internet, typically with malicious intent.

Sadly, doxxing is a constant problem which occurs daily. However, the topic has become particularly prevalent recently following some divisive comments by YouTuber Dream which began on Twitter and then escalated during his livestream.

Twitter-User Privatises Account

On April 11, Dream came under fire after he called out a Twitter user who then went on to privatise their account as a result of doxxing from Dream's fans. However, rather than dissuade his fans from doxxing, Dream tweeted that he found it "satisfying" to call people out for their "bs." However, fans worried that Dream's encouragement could be potentially dangerous.

Dream's controversial comments come after the YouTuber posted a cryptic tweet referencing his sexuality. While the post was welcomed with open arms, it also sparked a heated debate on the platform with fans arguing just exactly what the YouTuber was specifically saying.

Following on from Dream's tweets on doxxing, the situation went from bad to worse after a clip from his livestream surfaced on Twitter in which he shared his thoughts about doxxing those with a small following. The streamer said: "I'm just gonna express that, if you are a person on Twitter and you have seven followers and you get doxxed on Twitter, the odds of you having something happen to you in your life are so astronomically small it's not even worth worrying about."

Dream Responds To Backlash Over 'Doxxing' Comments

Dream quickly came under fire for his comments, later taking to Twitter to clarify his stance and criticising the clip for taking this views out of context. The Minecraft pro went on to share a video in which he explained his whole view on doxxing in its full context saying people who doxx others or "participate in harassing and threatening people" are "not welcome in my community."

Dream may have hoped to draw the drama to a close with his recent Twitter statement but in remains to be seen if this is the case. Dream is no stranger to controversy, having previously come under fire for cheating in a Minecraft speedrun and "gay-baiting", the act of pretending to be LGBTQ+ identifying to attract a certain fan base or garner attention.
