DrDisrespect Speaks Out On Twitch Ban

It's been almost a month since DrDisrespect disappeared following an announcement mid-stream on Twitch, and he has been silent ever since.

On June 26, 2020, DrDisrespect's account was banned from Twitch. Twitch's official statement on the ban said: "as is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service."

In his first interview since his shock departure, DrDisrespect (real name Guy Beahm) spoke to The Washington Post regarding his two-year exclusivity contract being voided by Twitch, and why.

Honestly, we just don’t know. It was a total shock. Imagine showing up to work and the doors are closed and you can’t get inside. You’re going, ‘What’s going on?’ And you’ve been told you’ve been fired. But you haven’t been told the reason why. We just weren’t given an answer. … It was the worst feeling.

Following his ban, his fans (affectionately known as the Champions Club) and the internet at large were abuzz with theories about why Twitch cut ties with the streamer, ranging from abuse allegations to a PR stunt, and it seems we still have no answers.

DrDisrespect told The Post "obviously, for legal counsel, I have to be careful here. But I can say, however, that I will not be returning to Twitch, so, I mean, that's it."

So where will Doc go now? Reports suggest that Beahm may begin streaming on his own website, or possibly move to YouTube or Facebook Gaming.

Beahm said of his next moves: "let's just say all the cards are on the table. I'm more focused on just making sure whatever we do next, whether it's a platform move or not, that it's the right decision for the community and Champions Club that follows me."
