The richest event in the history of esports has officially found its home, after being banished from Sweden.

Dota 2's The International will be moving to Bucharest, Romania, after they were forced to move locations amid the Swedish government's stance on esports events in the current post-pandemic climate.

Valve has announced that the $40,000,000 event will be held at the Arena Nationala, with the date also being pushed back to October 7-12.

“We are grateful for the partnership we have formed with Romania and the city of Bucharest, and very much look forward to gathering with the global Dota 2 community, both in-person and virtually, to celebrate the elite players and amazing fandom at The International,” Valve said. “Prepare yourselves. At long last, the battle begins.”

The International will be the tenth tournament of its history, being renowned for having an exuberant prize pool and producing exhilarating gameplay.

OG are the reigning champions of The International, having become the first team in history to win the event twice. The team recently saw their star man Anathan “ana” Pham retire from competing, although they still look to be slight favourites.

All 18 teams will have an extra two months to prepare for TI10, as we will finally get to see the richest even in esports history unfold.
