In real life, would you walk down the street and pick up someone's discarded pair of knickers? No, no you wouldn't. Applying that to the Lands Between, Elden Ring players are warned not to pick up a "cursed" pair of underwear that will ruin their playthrough.

Much more than picking your character class and customising them to look like Samuel L. Jackson or Darth Maul, your Elden Ring experience will see you equip a variety of weapons and increasingly creative armours. While we love The Last of Us-esque armour of the Mushroom Set, there's a lot to be said for the Jellyfish shield and pot-like Lionel's Set. However, all of these pale in comparison to the skimpy Deathbed Smalls.

Why Should You Avoid The Deathbed Smalls?

We previously told you about the odd addition of Deathbed Smalls, which appear to be a cut item of lingerie worn by the nefarious Fia, aka the Deathbed Companion. We're not sure why FromSoftware cut this slinky set, but even more odd is the fact the Deathbed Smalls actually do appear in Elden Ring - if you're handy with hacking.

Because Elden Ring requires you to disable anti-cheat to get into the hidden files of the Deathbed Smalls, there's an uptick of players saying they're being banned from the game... but not for cheating themselves. Over on the Elden Ring subreddit, we've seen a growing number of fans who are being soft banned due to Deathbed Smalls and one sadistic player.

Redditor u/Ok-Communication7125 explains how they played for 220 hours and are now left choosing between accepting a 180-day ban or starting afresh. The OP then added: "Would also like to note that the person who gave me the underwear had the in game name of pantsu dealer lol." Does this mean someone is walking around out there and is purposefully giving rivals the cursed Deathbed Smalls to get someone banned?

What Have Others Said About The Deathbed Smalls Problem?

Sympathising with the situation, someone wrote, "People suck, I'm 100% content playing offline," while another added, "FromSoftware support is an absolute joke. After all these years they still allow hackers to do whatever they like and punish the victims." Namely, there are a lot of reports about FromSoft customer service and how it's ridiculous that this kind of thing is taking place in the first place.

Others have said simply don't pick up items from random strangers - which seems like an extreme step to take. Some on the thread have said they often leave Boiled Crab around for hungry Tarnished. It's sad that people can't even do something nice for others without facing being banned. Then again, maybe don't go around picking up pieces of discarded underwear.
