Destiny 2 has received arguably one of its biggest expansions ever, and with it comes a whole new weapon crafting system. But of course, it wouldn't be Destiny if this new weapon crafting system didn't come with lots of new resources and materials that you must collect to use it.
But with everything else that's going on with The Witch Queen it can be hard to see through all the new currency forms and make sense of this crafting system. That's why we are here to help, as we have with us a full breakdown of every resource type and exactly how to earn Destiny 2 weapon crafting material.

Destiny 2 Weapon Crafting Materials: Why Do You Need Them?

Different materials offer the options to go for more advanced traits which can amplify your weapon even further. Destiny 2 Weapon Crafting Materials: All Materials And How To Get Them
Destiny 2 weapon crafting materials are bountiful and come in a range of rarities. This means that while some materials are incredibly easy to pick up, others require a bit more effort. However, in this list, we'll break down every single one of the crafting materials you will need for weapon crafting and how to earn them. Let's get into it.

Destiny 2 Neutral Element is likely the most common Destiny 2 weapon crafting material you will be on the hunt for, as they are required for the basic traits. Luckily, these are pretty easy to stack up. Quite often whilst playing The Witch Queen you will come across weapons with red borders in the loadout menu, which task you with filling up its Attunement metre. All you have to do is gain kills with these weapons. Once the Attunement is fulfilled, you will be able to claim Destiny 2 Resonant Materials. This always includes at least 200 Neutral Elements.

Resonant Elements
Destiny 2 Resonant Elements are at the heart of more advanced perks and traits found in weapon crafting. They split into five different types:
- Adroit Elements - Performance enhancement
- Drowned Elements - Raid-exclusive perk
- Energetic Elements - Ammo and Reload Perks
- Mutable Elements - Weapon mods
- Ruinous Elements - Damage mods
Destiny 2 Resonant Elements are a lot slower to earn, but are gained the same way as you earn your Destiny 2 Neutral Element. Once you have filled your Attunement, you are able to pick between materials. Each weapon will offer two of the potential four options. The Drowned Elements however are tied to Raids, and at the time of writing aren't available within the game.

Destiny 2 Resonant Alloys are the material that gets the ball rolling when weapon crafting. They allow you to apply Intrinsic Traits which are needed to apply additional perks to a weapon. Resonant Alloys can be earned by completing activities, but the easiest way to earn them is by dismantling legendary weapons.
Ascendant Alloy
Ascendant Alloys are easily the most valuable Destiny 2 weapon crafting material, as it is key to applying the more powerful Enhanced Traits. If you are in dire need of one, you can pick them up from Banshee-44 or The Cryptarch, Master Rahool on the Tower, but they will set you back 400 legendary shards - if that's how you want to proceed, head on over to our guide on Destiny 2 legendary shards.
An easier and cheaper method however is by completing weekly missions on The Throne World, along with The Witch Queen Offensives. It isn't guaranteed but you should be able to make a decent collection after some time.
