MultiVersus Garnet Guide: Overview
As one of the few characters classified as “Recommended” in MultiVersus, Garnet is understandably a fairly straightforward character. She doesn’t have any passive abilities, making her fairly easy to pick up and learn.
Garnet is a Horizontal fighter with strong moves that can knock opponents off either side of the screen. In addition, Garnet is a Bruiser. So, while she may not be the most agile fighter, she is capable of dealing a good amount of damage and knockback any time she manages to land a hit.

MultiVersus Garnet Guide: Specials
For her neutral-special, Stronger Than You, Garnet sings and dances in MultiVersus. The barrier she creates by doing so freezes projectiles in mid-air, which she can then hit back at opponents. In addition, this move provides allies with up to two stacks of the Rhythm buff. One stack of Rhythm gives allies a speed boost, while two stacks of Rhythm lets them break armour with their melee attacks.
Her side-special is called Rocket Fist! With it, she shoots the gauntlets around her hands as a projectile, even aiming them with directional inputs. However, the gauntlets travel further on the ground than in the air. When this move is in its cooldown period, her side-special is instead a sideways shoulder bash.
Upon using her grounded up-special, Spark of Love, Garnet aims and shoots an electric projectile that damages enemies and leaves an electrical zone on the ground. Enemies who touch it will be Shocked, lowering their speed, while allies will be Electrified, enabling them to apply Shocked to enemies with their attacks.
- Here are the best MultiVersus mods that you should be using.
After a while, the electrical zone will self-destruct, dealing knockback to nearby opponents and granting Garnet’s teammates an even stronger version of Electrified. With this buff, they can do extra damage with their melee attacks. After using this move, Garnet undergoes a cooldown, during which her grounded up-special is a strong overhead clap.
Meanwhile, Garnet performs the Flying Crossarm for her aerial up-special. With this attack, she launches upward and extends her arms, dealing vertical knockback to affected enemies. This two-hit move combos into itself and is one of her most effective vertical kill options.
Finally, Garnet places a star-shaped marker by using her down-special, Gem Dash. Inputting the move again will cause her to dash back toward the marker. In the process, she grabs and throws any enemies in her path.
If she attaches the marker to an ally and dashes to them, she will cancel their hit-stun and knockback, along with refreshing their aerial movement options. While this move has a cooldown, it does not have an extra variant. As a result, Garnet doesn’t have access to a down-special at all while the Gem Dash is on cooldown.
MultiVersus Garnet Guide: Perks
With Garnet’s signature Electric Groove perk, Garnet and her ally can gain additional stacks of the Rhythm buff by applying the Shocked debuff to opponents. Conversely, with the Marker perk, her side-special will spawn a star-shaped marker wherever her gauntlets explode. However, this only works if her down-special is not in its cooldown period.
Though she does naturally gain access to a general Defense perk in MultiVersus, Garnet benefits more from running two Utility perks. With the Doubles-specific The Purest of Motivations, she and her ally will do 15% more damage for 10 seconds after an ally gets knocked out.
Meanwhile, …in a Single Bound! gives Garnet a 10% buff to her jump speed. Alongside these, Garnet enjoys using the Offense perk Percussive Punch Power. This perk grants a 5% damage boost to attacks that deal horizontal knockback, a fitting power-up for a Horizontal fighter like Garnet.

MultiVersus Garnet Guide: Combos
As a Bruiser with several slow-moving attacks, Garnet doesn’t thrive at comboing opponents in general. Instead, her general game plan will involve picking the right spots to rack up large amounts of damage over time, before finishing her opponents off with a strong horizontal move.
Nevertheless, Garnet does have a handful of combo options at her disposal. If she can connect her grounded side-normal combo into an up-normal finisher, she can then try to string together a couple of up-airs or up-specials. Her down-air can similarly combo into up-air, although its slow start-up and particular hitbox can make it a bit difficult to land on a moving opponent.
