Many players are curious about Overwatch 2 cross progression, and if the feature will be available to allow players to carry over their progress between different platforms with the same account. Cross progression has become increasingly more common as of recent, especially in multiplayer titles like Overwatch 2. If you want to know about Overwatch 2 cross progression, and whether the feature is available to players, we've got you covered.

Blizzard has confirmed that there will be cross progression on launch for Overwatch 2, meaning players on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC will be able to keep their progress if they switch between platforms. This also goes for all of the progress players made on the original game, which carries into OW2 anyway.

The first murmurings of this feature came over two years ago, when Jeff Kaplan was still the game director on Overwatch and the sequel. Shortly after the game was ported to the Nintendo Switch, Kaplan stated, "We would love to have crossplay and cross progression between the Nintendo Switch and other platforms."

The actual confirmation of this came in a press release from June 12, 2022, where Blizzard outlined Overwatch 2 and its features, stating it would feature "a new five-versus-five multiplayer format with cross-platform play and cross-platform progression." Cross progression was further elaborated on in a recent AMA on the r/games subreddit, where an Overwatch Community Developer confirmed that you can "bring your Overwatch skins with you into OW2 from all platforms with cross progression."

That's all for our explanation of Overwatch 2 cross progression, and now you know that it has been confirmed for the game's launch, meaning players can keep their unified account across all platforms.

We also have a breakdown of the Overwatch 2 character changes, so you can see how each hero has changed from the first game.
