Hogwarts Legacy Release Date

Hogwarts Legacy has been pushed back a few times, and while the official website for the game stated for some time that it would release sometime in 2022, the official Hogwarts Legacy release date is February 10, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.

While originally scheduled for the same date, the other versions of the game have been pushed back. With PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releasing on April 4 2023, and the Nintendo Switch version on July 25 2023.

Hogwarts Legacy Trailer

There was an official reveal trailer that was released on September 16, 2020. The trailer introduced the game as a new story set in the Harry Potter universe, hinting at the idea that it would be an RPG.

The trailer also brought up the idea that the game would include aspects of the Harry Potter universe that will be completely new: ancient magic. They haven’t expanded on what this means, and even the game’s website doesn’t have too much to say about it. It's an area of Harry Potter lore that hasn't much been explored in media so far, which means Hogwarts Legacy will be treading new ground.

According to the Hogwarts Legacy website, the game will be released on both last-gen and new-gen consoles along with PC. This means the full list of platforms is as follows:

This goes against the belief many fans had that a Hogwarts Legacy PS5 exclusive was coming.

Hogwarts Legacy: Storyline and Setting

While the trailer didn’t give too much information about what the game would be like, the official website does. The game will be set in the 1800s, and your journey will start as a student at Hogwarts. This will debunk another fan theory that Hogwarts Legacy Dumbledore character may feature in the game.

You’ll learn about various subjects from the world, including Potions and Magical Creatures. In your downtime, you’ll be able to meet new friends, which could lead to a multiplayer aspect, although we doubt it.

The entire game won’t be in the halls of Hogwarts though - the open-world adventure will take you to new areas across the Wizarding World as you go on a journey to use your ancient magic and determine the fate of the world!
