You may want to know the exact Elden Ring boss order for the main bosses, as there is a mix of mandatory bosses that must be beaten, bosses which are optional depending on how you progress through the game, and outright optional bosses which you can find tucked away in every corner of the world. Elden Ring is a soulslike, so defeating bosses is the main draw of the game and there are tonnes of unique ones to take on during your journey. However, if you just want to know the Elden Ring boss order for the mandatory bosses, we've got you covered.

  • We also cover all the Elden Ring boss locations, so you can take a look at every boss in the game along with their locations.

Technically, there are only eight mandatory bosses in Elden Ring, all of which come during the late-game portion where you run through multiple bosses in relatively quick succession. However, to reach Leyndell, the Royal Capital and begin this part of the game, you will need to defeat two of the five Shardbearers, who hold Great Runes.

This means you can get through the whole experience by just defeating ten bosses, but you'll likely defeat many more, especially on your first run when you don't know where to go. We also don't recommend rushing through just these bosses unless you're in New Game +, as you will need to farm runes and gain more powerful equipment.

Below is the mandatory Elden Ring boss order:

  • Margit, the Fell Omen (mandatory for reaching Godrick)
  • Godrick the Grafted (Shardbearer)
  • Red Wolf of Radagon (mandatory for reaching Rennala)
  • Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon (Shardbearer)
  • Starscourge Radahn (Shardbearer)
  • Mohg, Lord of Blood (Shardbearer)
  • God-Devouring Serpent/Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy (Shardbearer)
  • Godfrey, First Elden Lord
  • Morgott, the Omen King
  • Fire Giant
  • Godskin Duo
  • Maliketh, the Black Blade
  • Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing
  • Godfrey, First Elden Lord/Hoarah Loux, Warrior
  • Radagon of the Golden Order/Elden Beast

Now you know the Elden Ring boss order for all of the mandatory bosses, meaning you'll be able to make your way through the game as efficiently as possible.
