Battlefield 2042 Season 2: New Map, Weapons, Specialist, And More
Battlefield 2042 Season 2 is on the horizon, and DICE has released some new information about what we can expect in terms of new content. It's been a long road for Battlefield 2042, and there's still a long way to go. While Season 1 breathed a little more life into the marred shooter, there's still plenty of work for DICE to do to bring it up to standard. The question is, can Battlefield 2042 Season 2 deliver?
- Here are the Battlefield 2042 1.2 update patch notes.
Battlefield 2042 Season 2: New Maps
DICE will be bringing one new map to the game in Battlefield 2042 Season 2. While we don't know exactly what it will look like just yet, we do know that it will be more infantry focused than the other maps in Battlefield 2042. A small clip of some gameplay played during the latest August developer update, but it's not a lot to go off. It looks like we'll be playing in amongst shipping containers, so the environment will likely be familiar to other Battlefield 2042 maps.
In addition, DICE is also refreshing a couple of maps already in Battlefield 2042. Kaleidoscope saw a rework in Season 1, but now Renewal and Orbital will be getting the rework treatment. DICE has gone in and added plenty more areas of cover for players to utilise during combat. The Renewal rework is set to release in September while the Orbital rework is coming a little later in October.

Battlefield 2042 Season 2: New Weapons
Battlefield 2042 Season 1 was a little light on new hardware, but DICE promises that will change for Season 2. Players can expect to see two new Primary Weapons arrive in Season 2, as well as one new Sidearm. We don't yet know what these weapons will be.
In addition to those new weapons, DICE is starting to move some weapons across from Portal into All-Out Warfare. The M16A3 AR and the M60E4 LMG will soon be unlockable in the main game mode, and it looks like DICE plans to move more legacy content across in the future.
Battlefield 2042 Season 2: Specialist Class Rework
Of course, we'll also be seeing a new Specialist arrive in Season 2, although we don't yet know who they will be. In addition to this, DICE is continuing to rework how the Specialists look, sound and feel to make the game appear more gritty. Of course, there will also be more balance patches arriving in Battlefield 2042 Season 2 that will further level the playing field between Specialists.
The removal of the class system in Battlefield 2042 was controversial.DICE is set on re-introducing classes to the game, but that rework won't arrive until Season 3. We have a separate guide on how the Battlefield 2042 Specialists are getting reworked.
Battlefield 2042 Season 2: Release Date
DICE has not yet revealed when Battlefield Season 2 will start. However, with Season 1 ending relatively soon, we can surely expect it to start sometime in September. When we know the official release date, we will update this article with the information.
