Imagine a world where we never modded Skyrim? Even with Bethesda's many updates, it would look like we're playing the 2011 fantasy epic on a potato. Modding is in the very DNA of PC games these days, and FromSoftware's Elden Ring is no different.

Whether you want to play on Easy Mode, stick Thomas the Tank Engine in-game, or play your own unofficial DLC, modding Elden Ring is more than just a bit of fun. What about the rest of us though. Are PlayStation and Xbox fans still locked out of the Lands Between's creativity extending beyond FromSoftware's imagination?

Can You Mod Elden Ring On PlayStation?

We're not here to condone jailbreaking consoles, but if you wanted to void your warranty and have Sony on your back, go ahead. For jailbroken PS4s, the 9.00 backport of Elden Ring now allows modding. Although this means it's not just PC players who can hack Elmo to pieces or turn everyone into Malenia, it's got some more practical uses.

Notably, wololo.net points to Lapy's Elden Ring Easy Mod. Aimed at "inexperienced" Souls-like players, the Elden Ring mod makes things a little easier. Hooray, no more ploughing hours into beating Godrick the Grafted, only to realise there's a long journey ahead. Posting on YouTube, BrutalSam has shown the mod in action on the PS4, and we've got to say, it could really come in handy.

If you want to play the Elden Ring Easy Mod, you'll step out of the Stranded Graveyard with 50% less damage on the Tarnished, 25% more damage on enemies, and twice the number of Runes. This should make besting the Elden Beast and the Shardbearers a piece of cake. It's unclear whether this is the start of more Elden Ring mods, but we're hoping for the Elden Ring Randomizer on PS4.

What's Next For Elden Ring?

Modding to add the likes of The Convergence DLC is all well and good, but it's far from an official release from behind the doors of FromSoftware HQ. Although we've previously broken into the game's locked colosseums to find a tease of a DLC of PvP, it seems FromSoft is busy making bizarre live-action trailers instead of releasing new content.

Hidetaka Miyazaki has promised to keep updating the hack 'n' slash title, but has stopped short on whether that's just the odd patch and NPC quests or a full-blown DLC. It will be a crying shame if we don't get an Elden Ring DLC, but if you've got a jailbroken PS4, at least you should be able to play some of the myriad of fan builds like Survival Mode that makes it feel like a whole new game.
