With a showcase planned on March 9 for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the anticipation for Chris Pratt's portrayal of that portly plumber has started to pick up the pace.

However, it now appears that you might have to wait even longer to see Mario in action, as the release date has felt the wrath of the meddlesome Koopa Troopas and has been pushed back by a few weeks.

Super Mario Bros Movie Reportedly Delayed In Europe

As pointed out by VGC, the dates for the upcoming The Super Mario Bros. Movie have seemingly been pushed back by Universal Studios for many of the regional launches.

The first of these delays are for the regional launches throughout Europe, which are now being married to those around the globe.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was scheduled to debut on March 22, with Nintendo fans in Belgium being the first to set their eyes on the Italian plumber's latest conquest to save Princess Peach. However, this has now been pushed back to April 5.

Marking these new dates in our diary, it brings The Super Mario Bros. Movie's European release much closer to the unchanged April 7 release date in the United States.

When Is The Super Mario Bros Movie Coming Out After The Delays?

Assuming this is the case, The Super Mario Bros. Movie won't air at all in March. Instead, its global rollout will be crammed into April for every region.

  • Belgium – April 5 (was March 22)
  • France – April 5 (was March 29)
  • New Zealand – April 5 (was March 30)
  • Italy – April 6 (unchanged)
  • Switzerland – April 6 (was March 23)
  • Austria – April 6 (was March 24)
  • Brazil – April 6 (was March 30)
  • United States – April 7 (unchanged)
  • United Kingdom – April 7 (was March 30)
  • Sweden – April 7 (was March 24)
  • Japan – April 28 (was March 27)
  • Australia – "April" (was March 30)
  • Mexico – "soon" (was March 24)
  • Argentina – "soon" (was April 6)

So, if you were itching to see Mario bouncing off toadstools and the fists of Donkey Kong, you might have to find an immediate back scratcher because you won't be able to get your fix until April.

Despite some backlash against Chris Pratt's maligned Mario voice, the movie seems to be turning things around and is already teasing a Smash Bros. cinematic universe. At least a delay will give Peach a little longer to cook up one of her infamous cakes.
