Sources: Fielder And ChiYo Set To Join Atlanta Reign
Kwon "Fielder" Joon and Han "ChiYo" Hyeon-seok are set to join the Atlanta Reign.
According to sources, the former Dallas Fuel support line has agreed to sign with the team as soon as the free agency window opens on December 23rd.
Sources have shared with GGRecon that the Reign are one of the teams who are looking to maintain their roster budget for the sixth season. Amidst financial uncertainty within the Overwatch League, many franchises have so far opted to downsize their roster budget. This appears to have caused a market correction of player salaries which is presented in the offers made to free agents around the league which GGRecon has been privy to. In this market, the Reign have remained an economically attractive landing spot for players.
Already in late November, the Reign started assembling their star-studded roster in late November, signing Overwatch League season 4 champion Lee "LIP" Jae-won from the Shanghai Dragons and Jeong "Stalk3r" Hak-yong from the Seoul Dynasty.
ChiYo and Fielder join the Reign from Overwatch League season 5 Grand Finals winners Dallas Fuel, who had allowed all their players to explore free agency shortly after the season’s conclusion. Both players had also shared their free agent status on Twitter in early November.
GGRecon is currently not aware of any other negotiations the Reign may be involved in. With the addition of Fielder and ChiYo, the roster would look as follows:
Jeong "Stalk3r" Hak-yong (Damage)
Lee "LIP" Jae-won (Damage)
Xander "Hawk" Domecq (Tank)
Kim "vigilante" Jun (Support)
Kwon "Fielder" Joon (Support)
Han "ChiYo" Hyeon-seok (Support)
GGRecon will update as the situation develops.
