Silent Hill Reboot Trailer Leaked Ahead Of July Announcement
Forget Silent Hill staying "silent," it's practically roaring these days. A whole decade after Konami's scary superstar bowed out with the underwhelming Silent Hill: Downpour, the hellfires could be lit again. A Silent Hill reboot trailer has leaked online, ahead of a potential reveal this month.
The problem with Silent Hill rumours is that there are so many. Barely a week goes by that there isn't a mention of that tormented town, and even we'll admit it's hard to keep track of where things are. Whispers of multiple games being in the works have been going on since 2020, but in the middle of 2022, we're no closer to learning what exactly is going on.
What Is The Silent Hill Reboot Trailer?
A Silent Hill reboot teaser has apparently appeared online and teases a "global reveal" on July 12. The jury is out on whether this is fake or the real deal. The teaser was shared by @Mr_Rebs on Twitter, saying it originally appeared on a Japanese forum before being removed.
While sceptics are sure to be rolling their eyes right now, @Mr_Rebs said, "If this turns out to be fake, I’ll eat a clown hat. Still waiting for a response from the person who shared this." The idea of the trailer being leaked by a Konami shareholder sounds plausible, but for now, we're left in the dark.
Although the Twitterverse was quick to jump the hype train, we've learned to temper our expectations when it comes to anything Silent Hill. One critic wrote, "Source: Trust me, bro," while another added, "Nice blender work, they wouldn't use a generic basic reveal trailer like that definitely not real." A third said, "Why would something like this be leaked. Someone was having fun? All the rumors about Silent Hill games have come true to zero."
What's Next For Silent Hill?
July 12 could be one to mark in the diary, and although we'd be surprised if we actually get a Silent Hill reveal here, one is long overdue. You might remember the recent leak of some Silent Hill-esque images that were supposedly from a PS5-exclusive reboot. Others have said that Bloober Team is working on a Silent Hill 2 remake - which is something that's not been specifically denied or confirmed.
Despite a lot of fan love for Silent Hill, Konami isn't quite as kind to its forgotten IP. Things have got so lax, someone was able to buy the Silent Hill domain from beneath Konami. There's also the spectre of Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills looming large over the franchise, as some hope the gaming auteur could still return to this world. Ultimately, we're losing our Pyramid Heads over the deluge of rumours that turn out to be nothing new. Will July 12 be the reveal we're hoping for? Don't hold your breath.
