Respawn Asks Fans Not To Harass Apex Legends Developers
Apex Legends fans are a dedicated bunch. They can also be massively problematic. The same goes for any gaming community; after all, there's a reason why toxicity and the image of a "gamer" go hand in hand. It's sad, but we brought it on ourselves.
Thankfully, the Apex Legends community haven't had much to complain about over the years, thanks to the incredible vigilance and work of the teams - but of course, there are those who ruin it for everyone. And now, Respawn has been forced to come forward to give "fans" a proper telling off.
Apex Legends Studio Hits Back Against Fan Threats
It seems as though Respawn Entertainment has suffered as much toxicity from its fanbase as it can stomach, and they have released a statement fighting back against abuse directed at its developers.
In a post made to Twitter, the company has kicked back to tell fans that they need to buck their ideas up and stop harassing the game's team in hopes of bringing about change. "We want to remind our players that we have a zero-tolerance policy for threats and the harassment of our developers," they say. "We will take appropriate action to ensure the health and safety of our team."
We don't know if this was prompted by one particular threat, or if one comment was the straw that broke the camel's back - but either way, Respawn isn't messing around here.
Bungie Comes To Respawn's Support
In the wake of attacks against Respawn, Bungie has come to the company's defence and offered them its support on Twitter. In response to the original tweet, the official Bungie account has said that "standing against toxicity and harassment takes all of us working together to build healthier communities." Amen.
Things seem to be getting worse, and you might remember when the God of War Ragnarok team spoke out against the abuse being levelled at them. It's nice to see the gaming world come together to fight against toxicity and make the worlds of video games a better place to be for everyone. The lesson here is don't be a d**k, and we'll all be happy. Cool.
