MultiVersus Season 1 Release Date Confirmed… With A Catch

The delay of MultiVersus was hugely disappointing for a lot of fans, but that hasn't stopped them from showing up in their droves. The brutal brawler has now passed 10 million players before it has even left its beta, and the game's fan base is truly packing out. 

It seems like MultiVersus - which was once pitched as a Smash Bros competitor whose utterance of the game's name was met with scoffs - is actually doing a good job of standing up to it. Despite the efforts of naysayers, MultiVersus is crushing it. And now, we finally have word on when we're getting some new content with MultiVersus Season 1... but it's coming in a trickle.

What Is The MultiVersus Season 1 Release Date?

We finally have a release date for the arrival of MultiVersus' first season of battle pass content, but it's not coming at the same time as the promised Morty playable character. Cue cheers and boos in equal measure.

Revealing the news on Twitter, the official MultiVersus account has said that "We're excited to announce Season 1 will begin on August 15 with a brand-new Battle Pass for you to earn in-game rewards! We can also confirm Morty will join the character roster on August 23 as part of Season 1." 

This update isn't exactly what prospective Morty mains were hoping to hear, but to be fair to the team, it's not that long of a delay. It just means that the character's addition will feel more like an addition to Season 1's gameplay offerings than simply another face added to the game. It doesn't end there, though, as MultiVersus has promised more content is coming over the course of the season.

Is MultiVersus Getting New Modes?

Even though we already knew that a new Ranked Mode is coming to MultiVersus this season, the Twitter account has promised that more content is on the way for the length of the season. "Everything we are bringing to you in Season 1 will not drop on the same day," reads the follow-up tweet. "New modes and content will be spread through the life of the season. We'll continue to share dates on all the fun things to come!"

Although MultiVersus isn't willing to reveal what's warming up from the sidelines just yet, at least there's a seemingly solid roadmap of content on the way.  MultiVersus Season 1 is looking to be a lot of fun, and though it isn't coming when we expected it, we're still definitely going to be there on day one.
