Days Gone might not have scored so well with critics, but it's got a lot of fight left in it yet. As it turns out, the rumours that Days Gone will be getting a live-action movie adaptation could well be true.

It seems to be working nicely for PlayStation Studios - Uncharted was a box office success, and the upcoming The Last Of Us television adaptation is one of the most hyped shows of the decade. It now looks like a Days Gone movie is officially going ahead - and it may have already found its Deacon St. John.

In an exclusive report on Deadline, it has been claimed that the Days Gone movie is in production. Better yet, actor Sam Heughan is reportedly in talks to star as the protagonist, Deacon St. John. You might recognise him from his role in Outlander, and his other appearances in Bloodshot and SAS: Red Notice.

A live-action Days Gone movie is being developed by PlayStation Studios, with Jennifer Klein leading and Sheldon Turner working as writer and co-producer. You might know Turner as the Oscar-nominated writer of Up In The Air and X-Men: First Class.

This is pretty big news, as it means that the output of PlayStation Studios is really starting to ramp up - and the film itself sounds fascinating. Couple this with a "franchise" of Uncharted movies starring Tom Holland and Amazon's God of War series, and Sony Ponies are in luck.

Days Gone Movie Is 'A Love Ballad To Motorcycle Movies'

According to the report from Deadline, the upcoming Days Gone movie will have a focus on traversal in spite of the post-apocalyptic setting. The report suggests that "Turner's script will be a love ballad to motorcycle movies - the bike being Deacon's sole form of transportation, his horse in this would-be modern-day western."

It's an interesting concept, and an interesting direction for PlayStation Studios to turn in. We're getting some Sons of Anarchy vibes, but we'll admit, a love ballad to motorcycle movies is a pretty niche market. Days Gone director James Ross has previously opened up about the sequel that never was, but if the movie is a hit, maybe a potential sequel can adapt these ideas. Either way, Deacon St. John is presumably revving his hog in anticipation.
