We're sharpening our blades and heading back into the Lands Between, as FromSoftware is reminding us why Elden Ring is so great. This time, the developer has given us a live-action Elden Ring trailer. Sadly, it's not for an actual series or movie - just to hype its own achievements.

Hitting the gaming scene in February, the long-awaited Souls-like was billed as FromSoft's biggest outing yet. That was definitely true, but still, it kept the spirit of the Souls games and Bloodborne that made Hidetaka Miyazaki's games the giants they are. Unlike Resident Evil and Silent Hill, as well upcoming shows for God of War and maybe even Fallen Order, FromSoft games are yet to make the leap into live-action.

What Is The Live-Action Elden Ring Trailer?

FromSoftware has given us a live-action Elden Ring trailer starring UFC star Israel Adesanya. The UFC Champion spends a minute trying to convince you to play the open-world Souls-like during the "Sharper Than Their Swords" trailer. Sadly, it seemingly quashes our hopes of a live-action series and an imminent Elden Ring DLC at the same time.

As Adesanya shouts his way through the trailer, there are various accolades and scores to try and get you to part with your money. This isn't the first time the UFC has partnered with Elden Ring, as the game previously sponsored a match featuring Adesanya. Elden Ring is known for its other celebrity promotions, and a while back, The Mandalorian and Mulan's Ming-Na Wen starred in a similar trailer.

Players were confused and annoyed at the trailer - asking why it's wasting its time creating a live-action trailer for nothing instead of working on a DLC. One critic wrote, "For real, though: Imagine THIS baffling-ass trailer were the thing that finally got you to try Elden Ring," while another added, "Maaaan I thought this was a DLC expansion trailer.... Me is very sad." A third concluded, "Bit weird to come out with a trailer 3 months after release, and with a MMA dude for some reason. But I guess Elden Ring had an impressive momentum they want to keep going."

Is A Live-Action Elden Ring Series On The Way?

Unless Adesanya is about to be revealed as a model for an in-game NPC in an Elden Ring DLC, we think most of us can agree the trailer was a bit of a bust. Still, it's got us thinking about a bright future with a Game of Thrones-inspired Elden Ring series (as long as it's not like the final season). Given that Thrones author George R.R. Martin wrote the Elden Ring backstory, Westeros and the Lands Between aren't that far apart.

Bandai Namco President and CEO Yasuo Miyakawa has already said there are plans to expand this world. Even though there are those who took this to simply mean a DLC, other hopeful Tarnisheds have been championing a live-action series or movie. Then again, others think the lore is just too big to try and confine into a smaller medium. Even if there isn't one on the horizon right now, it's hard to imagine that someone won't make some sort of live-action Elden Ring during this new renaissance of video game adaptations.
