Evil Geniuses CEO Apologises For CS:GO Team's Flop
Whilst the dawn of the Evil is spreading in the MOBA universe with the Geniuses of the League of Legends roster being crowned as the champions of North America, it appears that hell will freeze over before their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster replicates their devilish success.
The North American organisation has been without success since their 2020 BLAST Spring 2020 Finals championship, going the entirety of 2021 without a single top-four finish in an event's playoff stage.
Heading into the new year, with an eye on the return of live events, Evil Geniuses threw caution to the wind and signed the star-studded trifecta of Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip, Timothy "Autimatic" Ta, and William "RUSH" Wierzba to reunite the ex-Cloud9 trio that won ELEAGUE Major Boston in 2018. However, after even more failures for Evil Geniuses, the organisation's CEO has now apologised to fans.
Evil Geniuses Flop Again
Since signing the already-proven trio, Evil Geniuses suffered an embarrassing winless streak at the ESL Pro League to finish dead-last, a Group Stage crash-out of BLAST Premier: Spring, and an 8th placed finish at the recent PGL Antwerp Major American RMR qualifiers to miss out on the playoff stages completely.
Now, after yet another disappointing performance at the BLAST Premier: Spring American Showdown, the squad crashed out in the first round of a single-elimination bracket with a 0-2 loss to GODSENT.
Evil Geniuses CEO Apologises To Fans
Following their shock exit, and repeated sub-par placements, Nicole LaPointe Jameson, CEO of Evil Geniuses, took to social media to apologise to their fans, and thank them for their continued support through a tough period.
"Disappointing finish in CS:GO today - I'm sorry to all the fans...we are not complacent with these results and are committed to making changes to improve!" said Jameson on Twitter.
Jameson's tweets also suggest that a change on the roster could be imminent, with many people identifying the long-serving players of Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte and Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov as the weak links.
Once upon a time, Evil Geniuses ruled CS:GO with a red fist and devil horns, with two stints in 2009-10 and 2019-20 seeing them rack up a multitude of championships. With international CS:GO currently being dominated by European rosters, and America seeing the likes of FURIA and Team Liquid be dominant, maybe a Satan-like cut-throat approach is needed to see the prestigious organisation be seated on a throne once more.
