Elden Ring SNES Demake Is A Think Of Beauty
The demake is a very welcome trend in gaming, and now, Elden Ring has a SNES demake for the ages. These days, it's all about recreating the most lifelike models and beautiful vistas to enhance the immersion offered by the digital worlds of video games. But it's not like the old days, is it?
Games designed as throwbacks to the hardware of old are as charming as they are fantastic, and the return to tradition has served a Bloodborne demake well, starting the trend and welcoming a slew of others after it. And now, Elden Ring has joined in on the fun.
What Is The Elden Ring SNES Demake?
It was only a matter of time, honestly. Animation team 64 Bits has imagined what a version of Elden Ring released back in the day for the SNES would look like. Safe to say, it looks fantastic. The video posted to their YouTube channel reveals a recreation of the Lands Between in all of their new 16-bit glory, as well as a large overworld map that sees Torrent slowly gallop over a world that turns underneath them.
64 Bits' Elden Ring SNES demake also shows our intrepid Tarnished taking on a myriad of bosses fighting in classic SNES adventure game style. As a nod back to the Zelda games of yesteryear, there are all the dungeons and horse riding you'd expect to see if Elden Ring had come out a few decades ago. But, sadly, it isn't playable. Yet.
Where's The Playable Demake Of Elden Ring?
Sadly, there's no option to play a demake of Elden Ring just yet - but chances are, that'll change. The Souls-like genre has a lot of fan crossover with demakes ever since Bloodborne PSX launched, and there's no doubt that the biggest game in recent years can bag itself a new version if Bloodborne can.
We've previously seen the likes of Resident Evil Village get the demake treatment, but that's only small potatoes compared to Elden Ring. Some of us have put hundreds of hours into FromSoft's quest, meaning even the sight of an actual Elden Ring SNES game would probably melt the retro console there and then.
Still, the team has delivered something truly wonderful and it would be a crying shame if the Elden Ring SNES demake isn't playable in at least some form. We're not suggesting you have to play all the way to Melania with this pixel punishment, but some sort of blocky offshoot would be welcome. Give it another few months, and we're willing to bet that someone will take on the massive challenge. And we'll be all the better for it.
