The second Warzone 2 map has been announced, as Call of Duty has revealed Ashika Island to arrive as the successor to Rebirth Island in the Resurgence category.

Set to arrive on February 15 with Warzone 2 Season 2, Ashika Island will play host to lobbies 50 players large and also be the home of new DMZ missions and 24v24 Ground War lobbies.

Joining Al Mazrah in Warzone and Building 21 in DMZ, the resurgence map will reignite the small-based battle royale experience which gained a massive following in the wake of Caldera's collapse.

Warzone 2 Resurgence Map Ashika Island's Layout Revealed

Ashika Island is inspired by the multiplayer map Castle, which was expected to arrive in Modern Warfare 2 in a smaller 6v6 capacity, where the main halls that have been featured in multiple Call of Duty titles will be erected again.

With the Castle as an epicentre of the action, the surrounding areas include a Town Centre, a Port, a Residential Area, and beaches on the island's north coast.

The map reveal goes hand-in-hand with a leak that surfaced many weeks ago, where players described the layout as looking quite similar to that seen in Fortnue's Keep.

Ashika Island Has Been Inspired Around 'Castle' - Will Now Not Be In Multiplayer

Castle first appeared in the series way back in Call of Duty: World at War (2008) and was reintroduced to the scene during the 2022 Vanguard era when it was remastered.

Despite the map being originally designed by Treyarch, it has since been passed on to Sledgehammer Games and now Infinity Ward/Raven Software who have implemented it into the new generation of Call of Duty. However, it has been revealed that Castle will now not be a 6v6 multiplayer map, opening up the floor to more original designs.

The arrival of Ashika Island will also see the American-Japanese Operator Ronin arrive in the Modern Warfare 2 line-up alongside his Katana, revisiting the series after his role in the 2019 predecessor.
